World-class service facilities in Abu Dhabi

After the Emirate of Abu Dhabi topped the best cities to live in the Middle East and Africa, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Liveability Index for 2024.

With the announcement of 2025 as the Year of the Community, the Department of Municipalities and Transport confirmed its continuation of implementing projects and programs that contribute to strengthening community ties between its members, placing improving the quality of life for all as the basis of its strategies during the coming period.

The capital, Abu Dhabi, pays great attention to the infrastructure and service facilities sector, in order to achieve the construction of sustainable and interconnected communities that meet the needs of the emirate's residents, achieve their aspirations, and contribute to enhancing the quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The department focuses in its projects on developing a sustainable infrastructure, providing smart services, and launching innovative initiatives that ensure well-being and happiness, in order to achieve the well-being of community members.

Abu Dhabi City Municipality confirmed that it is moving forward with implementing infrastructure projects, in embodiment of the comprehensive development plan, and within the framework of the keenness of the Department of Municipalities and Transport and its strategy aimed at developing the infrastructure system in all cities, and providing services capable of keeping pace with the continuous development witnessed by the city and the increasing population growth, and the noticeable expansion in the volume of economic and commercial activity in it.

This requires an infrastructure with international specifications that achieves sustainable development standards, supports the comprehensive renaissance project that Abu Dhabi is witnessing at all levels, achieves the aspirations of community members, and contributes to supporting the components of sustainable development.

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is enhancing the entertainment service sector, through expanding the establishment of parks and beaches, as they are an attractive destination for visitors and tourists, as they are facilities that enhance the family atmosphere.

Abu Dhabi's beaches and parks have many features and specifications that meet international standards, which qualified them to obtain the Blue Flag for beaches and the Green Flag for parks, as they provide great civilized services that contribute to the happiness of the public and its visitors, and apply the highest standards of cleanliness and a healthy and safe environment.

Best City
Abu Dhabi maintained its position as the best city to live in the region, after its progress in the field of health care and education, while Dubai came in second place by a small margin, after also progressing in the same sectors.

Living Strategy
The Department of Municipalities and Transport and its three affiliated municipalities are implementing their projects for service facilities, within the framework of the founding strategy for living, within the vision and priority of the Abu Dhabi government in building and providing an integrated and sustainable community environment that ensures the stability and cohesion of the emirate's community, and contributes to adopting a healthy lifestyle in an integrated community environment that is in line with the local culture and traditions of the Emirati heritage.

The strategy seeks to provide recreational spaces for families and children, enhance communication between community members, and encourage a healthy lifestyle, as parks are designed according to international standards, enhancing the quality of life of the area's residents, and are equipped with playgrounds for various sports such as: padel tennis, basketball, table tennis, and football, as well as exercise areas and equipment, games and umbrellas, lighting systems, seating, and pouring floors designed in a rubbery and safe way for children, in addition to floor designs in the form of hills and small elevations for practicing skiing, to make parks qualified from a sports and social perspective, and for families to meet.

As part of its development plan for parks, the Department of Municipalities and Transport provides the free "Hala Wi-Fi" network in 44 parks in the emirate, in cooperation with telecommunications service providers in the country.

"Bike Abu Dhabi"

The Department launched the "Bike Abu Dhabi" initiative, an empowering platform designed to enhance the vibrant cycling community across the emirate. Through this initiative, improvements were made to the infrastructure of bicycle projects, including the expansion of the emirate's bicycle network, which consolidates its global position in the field of cycling, as an activity that combines mobility, health, entertainment and sports.
Parks

The Department is keen to implement and equip the play areas included in each park, according to the latest and most advanced international standards, to provide the highest standards of safety and security so that its games are suitable and safe for all children of all ages, so that they can spend enjoyable recreational times with family members.

Lifestyle
In order to encourage adherence to a healthy lifestyle, the Department, represented by the Abu Dhabi City Municipality, is keen to organize sports activities in its public recreational facilities, in commitment to enhancing the health and safety of the community, and at the same time to transform recreational and public facilities into areas of attraction, entertainment and benefit for members of the community, and to provide multiple destinations and options for residents and visitors to spend the most beautiful, enjoyable and beneficial times in a way that achieves happiness for all members of society.
