100 Activities at the Dubai Festival for People of Determination

The Dubai Club for People of Determination launched the new edition of the Ramadan Festival, which includes sports, cultural and community events. The festival, which will continue until March 21, includes 100 cultural and community programs in various areas, serving all categories of “people of determination”, sponsored by many government and private institutions, and the participation of 100 male and female volunteers.

676 contestants are participating in the 13th edition of the Dubai Holy Quran Competition for People of Determination, which will start tomorrow under the patronage of Sheikha Rawda bint Ahmed bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Contestants compete in the categories of memorizing the entire Quran, 20 parts, half the Quran, 10 parts, seven parts, five parts, three parts, two parts, and one part, in addition to one of the short surahs, in order to encourage “people of determination” to embrace the Book of Allah in terms of memorization, understanding, performance, and contemplation, and to ignite the spirit of competition among participants to learn and teach the Book of Allah.

The sports activity includes five-a-side football games, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, boccia, badminton, and shooting, in addition to recreational games, while the club hosts the wheelchair basketball championship, which is held as part of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament.


Majid Al Osaimi, Executive Director of the Dubai Club for People of Determination and Director of the Festival, confirmed that the new edition of the festival coincides with the Year of the Community, and embodies strengthening ties in families and communities, by preserving cultural heritage and creating comprehensive environments in which the spirit of cooperation, belonging, and initiatives that translate the values ​​of social responsibility flourish.

Al-Asimi pointed out that the club aims to hold events for people of determination to practice various activities, according to their ambitions and abilities, and to benefit from their time in matters that benefit them physically, morally and mentally in the month of activity and vitality.


Al-Asimi confirmed that the club has completed its readiness to host the wheelchair basketball championship held within the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, extending his thanks to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, the owner of the idea of ​​the Nad Al Sheba Tournament, and to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, for following up on the tournament.


He said: “The interest and support of Sheikha Rawda bint Ahmed bin Juma Al Maktoum, and her annual sponsorship of the Dubai Holy Quran Competition for People of Determination, is behind the qualitative shift in this competition.”
