Funny Dragon Boat Race on Ice

Nearly 400 athletes from around the world took part in dragon boat races across the frozen ice in a bid to win the Ice Dragon Boat Championship in China, according to Reuters.

Nineteen countries from around the world took part in this year’s Shilingo International Ice Dragon Boat Championship. Athletes competed in a variety of events including 100- and 200-meter straights and drift races.

“This is the first time we’ve actually raced on ice,” said Govana, coach of the German dragon boat team taking part in the championship. “We’ve only been in the water so far, so it’s a bit different, but it’s an amazing experience.”

“We came second in the race, which was the first race we had this morning, so we’re in it to try to win medals, but if not, then we’ll really enjoy it,” explained Philip, a participant from Team UK.
