“Harvest of Our Farms” Forum for “Umm Al Quwain Businesswomen”

The Umm Al Quwain Businesswomen Council organized the “Harvest of Our Farms” Forum in the presence of Sheikh Majid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Chairman of the Department of Tourism and Antiquities in Umm Al Quwain.

The forum was held in cooperation with Umm Al Quwain Second and Third Cycle Girls School and with the support of the Umm Al Quwain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as part of the initiatives supporting the national program “Azraat Al Emarat”, with the aim of developing local agricultural production and enhancing its quality and competitiveness through exchanging best practices in the field of sustainable agricultural development.

The forum, which was held on the emirate’s waterfront, was attended by Khalfan Ahmed Misfer, Chairman of the Umm Al Quwain Chamber, and Aisha Rashid Laitim, Member of the Federal National Council and Chairman of the Umm Al Quwain Businesswomen Council, along with members of the Federal National Council and the Board of Directors of the Umm Al Quwain Chamber.

The forum's activities included an exhibition in which local farms participated to display their agricultural and animal products, including dates, in addition to the participation of companies specialized in landscaping, agricultural equipment, feed production factories, organic fertilizers, in addition to farms selling livestock, birds and poultry.

The activities also included workshops presented by the Emirates Nature Association on salty plants, and other workshops on farming methods, preparing organic fertilizers and improving soil, in addition to educational activities on healthy nutrition, and entertainment segments for children.

Sheikh Majid bin Saud inspected the forum's corners, planted a seedling, viewed the products of national farms and home agricultural projects, and listened to an explanation from the participants about the means of developing the agricultural sector, irrigation and gardening techniques, in addition to student participation, in addition to workshops organized by government departments.

Sheikh Majid bin Saud praised the efforts of the Ministry of Education in instilling a culture of agriculture and food production among students, which contributes to preparing an aware generation that contributes to sustainable agricultural development.

For her part, Aisha Rashid Laitim stressed that the forum reflects the keenness of the Umm Al Quwain Businesswomen Council to support community initiatives. (WAM)
