His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed visits the Unified Medical Operations Center

His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, visited the Unified Medical Operations Command Center system, which was launched by the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi in cooperation with a number of medical entities and institutions from the public and private sectors, with the aim of establishing a smart healthcare system capable of dealing with various emergencies, disasters and crises effectively and efficiently.

His Highness was briefed on the center’s facilities, technologies and capabilities available to manage the Unified Medical Operations Command Center, the latest technology systems based on artificial intelligence solutions, data integration and advanced communications systems, and smart ambulance systems that enable the concerned teams to record patients’ vital medical data directly, to ensure the accuracy and speed of data transfer, in addition to linking them with hospitals to consult the specialist doctor even before the patient arrives, and preparing medical teams to begin treatment upon arrival at the health facility.


His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the interest of the wise leadership and its efforts to provide high-quality health services, in accordance with the highest international standards, pointing out the importance of having an advanced system in the field of medical operations management, by taking advantage of the latest technologies and advanced technological solutions in the sector, to enhance coordination and communication between medical care providers, and continue to raise the level of readiness to deal with emergencies and crises efficiently and effectively.

His Highness pointed out the importance of continuing to provide this vital sector with qualified personnel, advanced facilities, modern technologies and equipment, to enable it to play its pivotal role in ensuring the safety of community members and dealing with various types of emergencies, crises and disasters, in accordance with the highest standards and best practices followed globally.


The Unified Medical Operations Command Center’s readiness and response model, the first of its kind in the world, includes a smart system that includes regulations and governance foundations for emergency response at the emirate level, including response and coordination procedures that precede hospital admission, up to hospital admission, coordination of healthcare services, and support for medical personnel, by ensuring the availability of strategic medical stocks in the emirate, to contribute to enhancing the health of community members, and preserving their safety and lives.

Mr. Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, stressed that “the Unified Medical Operations Command Center represents the fruit of cooperation achieved under the directives and support of the wise leadership, as the center represents the beating heart of Abu Dhabi’s integrated capabilities to manage and respond to medical emergencies, disasters and crises. It is a key pillar and essential element in the infrastructure and strategic vision of a robust and sustainable health system in Abu Dhabi, and ensures continued development and enhanced flexibility in responding to emergencies, disasters and crises, and ensuring the progress and continuity of the health sector’s work.”

He said: “The centre supports the development of a sustainable emergency management system capable of monitoring emerging challenges and responding to them efficiently, which contributes to preserving the health and safety of community members and enhancing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global healthcare destination.”

His Highness was accompanied during the visit by Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi.

The Unified Medical Operations Command Centre is responsible for developing, coordinating and recommending regulations and frameworks for emergency response and preparedness in Abu Dhabi. The Centre includes representatives from Civil Defence, Response Plus Holdings (RPM), healthcare providers including hospitals, including NMC, Pure Health, ADNOC, Ahlia Hospital, Mediclinic, Burjeel Hospital and M42, in addition to ambulance and support services providers such as the Poison Control Centre, organ transplant programmes, blood banks, morgues, and strategic partners including the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, the Ministry of Defence, the Abu Dhabi Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Centre, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, and Malaffi.
