Leaders from 14 Dubai government entities on a strategic visit to Shenzhen, China

In embodiment of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” to build leaders capable of anticipating the future, learning about the latest global practices, and drawing inspiration from innovative ideas that drive progress in the Emirate of Dubai and contribute to supporting the emirate’s position among the best cities in the world, the Executive Office, in cooperation with Dubai Chambers, is organizing a strategic visit for Dubai leaders from 14 government entities to the Chinese city of Shenzhen, starting tomorrow for a period of 4 days.

The visit is part of the Emirate of Dubai’s keenness to achieve excellence by establishing a culture of continuous institutional learning, exchanging knowledge and expertise, and benefiting from the experiences of leading cities worldwide.


Given what the Chinese city of Shenzhen represents as a global model in innovation and advanced technology, in addition to its strategic location and advanced infrastructure, which has made it a headquarters for major companies and a leading center in the digital economy and future industries.


The visit aims to learn about the most prominent successful experiences and best practices in Shenzhen, generate new project ideas for the Emirate of Dubai, and expand cooperation in various fields, including artificial intelligence, modern technology, corporate innovation, sustainability, smart cities, and emerging sectors in line with Dubai’s future vision and enhance its position as a leading global destination for talent, business, and technological advancement, explore the unique culture and innovation environment in Shenzhen, as well as consolidate the spirit of cooperation between Dubai officials participating in the visit and build new relationships with officials of the institutions being visited, attract multinational companies, billionaire companies (unicorns), and fast-growing startups from China to Dubai, and open new horizons for trade and investment, which enhances the competitiveness of both sides in global markets. The visit to Shenzhen, which is home to some of the most successful Chinese companies, such as Huawei, Tencent, DJI, and BYD, making it a global hub for technology and innovation, includes a series of meetings with government and private sector officials, businessmen and investors in the city, as well as field visits to leading destinations and institutions in the fields of technology, innovation, digital economy, urban planning, transportation, sustainability, and energy.

The UAE and the People's Republic of China have exceptional historical and strategic relations, and the two countries present a distinguished model for continuously improving levels of cooperation to enhance development and economic prosperity, noting that the visit of Dubai's leaders to Shenzhen comes within the framework of the strong partnership between the two countries to expand the horizons of cooperation in various fields.

His Excellency Saeed Al Eter, Director General of the Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, stressed that the UAE and the People's Republic of China are linked by exceptional historical and strategic relations, and the two countries present a distinguished model for the continuous advancement of cooperation levels to enhance development and economic prosperity, noting that the visit of Dubai's leaders to Shenzhen comes within the framework of the strong partnership between the two countries to expand the horizons of cooperation in various fields.

His Excellency said, "With the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, Dubai is distinguished as one of the fastest developing cities in the world and seeks to learn from all over the world to enhance the development journey."


He added, "Shenzhen is a model city that is distinguished by its competitiveness in technology and advanced manufacturing, its strategic location, infrastructure and logistics, its embrace of major companies, as well as its unique urban model. Therefore, this visit is of great importance to benefit from Shenzhen's rich experiences in these fields, and to strengthen partnerships with various parties, in a way that accelerates Dubai's plans and creates new shifts and transformations in all sectors, especially in the economic, financial and commercial fields, urban planning, transportation, sustainability, energy, artificial intelligence, and manufacturing technology sectors." Shenzhen is also a global model in urban development and advanced infrastructure, as the city relies mainly on state-owned enterprises (SOEs) that own, build and manage most of the city's infrastructure. The city has been completely rebuilt to comply with the highest international standards, making it a model for modern urban planning.
