Return of player Thiban Al Muhairi after an absence of more than 10 years

Dhiban Salem Al Muhairi, Secretary-General of the National Paralympic Committee and Head of the UAE Cycling Team Mission for People of Determination, will participate as a player in the 13th edition of the Asian Cycling Championship hosted by the Thai capital, Bangkok, during the period from February 1 to 10, 2025. In an important step before the championship, he will thus return to international competitions after an absence of more than a decade.

The UAE team is represented by 7 players: Thiban Salem Al Muhairi, Ahmed Mohammed Al Badawi, Abdullah Salem Al Balushi, Salem Al Junaibi, Salama Al Khatri, Eyed Al Ahbabi, and Saeed Rashid Al Dhahiri, under the supervision of coach Mohammed Al Mari.
The technical committee of the championship discussed in its last meeting the preparations for the competitions and the new amendments being implemented this year, while stressing the importance of supporting athletes of determination and developing the level of competitions in the Asian continent.
Al Muhairi expressed his great happiness to return to international participation, stressing his aspiration to present a strong performance that contributes to strengthening the UAE national team's position in the tournament.
Al Muhairi underwent medical classification, where he was classified in category H3, which enhances his chances of competing strongly during the tournament.
For his part, coach Mohammed Al Marawi praised Al Muhairi's return, stressing that his long experience will constitute a great addition to the team, and he also praised the fighting spirit he showed during the team's first training sessions.
