The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi has licensed the “Healthy Living Institute” in the emirate as the world’s first specialized center in longevity medicine, after the institute met the licensing criteria and requirements set by the regulatory framework, which was developed by the department in an initiative that is the first of its kind in the world.

Under this license, the institute provides a wide range of services to the residents of Abu Dhabi with the aim of promoting health, prolonging life and preventing diseases, by enabling community members to adopt healthier lifestyles through providing preventive and therapeutic health practices, while it will contribute to developing personalized treatment plans supported by artificial intelligence technologies that suit the patient’s lifestyle, goals and clinical needs.
Dr. Rashid Obaid Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Health Workforce Sector at the Department, said: “The development of the regulatory framework and standards for the centers is in line with the Department’s keenness to enable the healthcare system in the emirate to contribute to the efforts of transforming from the traditional model of care based on responding to diseases to a proactive approach that places comprehensive health and prevention at the top of the list of care priorities. These efforts consolidate Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for healthcare globally.”

For her part, Dr. Nicole Sirotin, CEO of the Healthy Living Institute and Board Member of the Longevity Society, said: “The increasing burden of diseases is casting a shadow over global healthcare systems, imposing unprecedented needs on both individuals and healthcare systems themselves. In order to overcome this challenge, we must direct our collective efforts towards improving health and reducing the burden of chronic diseases.
The Healthy Living Institute supports the UAE’s vision of excellence in life sciences, healthcare and innovation. As the world’s first Healthy Living Medicine Center, the Institute will contribute to establishing new global standards for healthy living medicine, making health and longevity a new standard for people’s lives.
Long-term health care centers will be equipped with the necessary capabilities to cover all aspects of care, including providing medications and treatments, maintaining mental health and quality of life, addressing social and environmental factors, and providing diagnostic and therapeutic services designed to prevent and treat age-related diseases, improve physical fitness, and rehabilitate and restore health to those with illness or disability.
