University Hospital Sharjah receives Royal Brompton delegation

University Hospital Sharjah received a delegation from Royal Brompton Hospital, which specializes in heart and lung medicine, headed by Dr. Alexandre Leon, Director of the Hospital. The delegation was received by Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of University Hospital and Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority, and Dr. Khalifa Al Nuaimi, Executive Director and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Hospital.

The meeting discussed ways of joint cooperation between the two institutions, reviewed the medical services available at University Hospital Sharjah, in addition to discussing the Virtual Excellence Program for Cardiovascular Diseases and Oncology, which was established in the British capital, London.


The program aims to improve cardiovascular health in cancer patients through specialized scientific research and studies, which focus on the side effects of cancer treatments on the heart and blood vessels, and develop innovative mechanisms to treat them and reduce their impact.

The program also aims to transfer scientific knowledge to researchers and doctors in research centers, hospitals, and institutions treating cancer and heart diseases worldwide, to ensure the exchange of experiences and the development of more effective treatment strategies.


During the meeting, the two sides stressed their keenness to strengthen relations and consolidate cooperation between the two institutions, in a way that contributes to benefiting from the great support provided by the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, to the “Big Heart” Foundation, within the framework of striving to achieve sustainable development of health services and enhance the ability of the medical system to meet the needs of society.
