The World Bank has built strong partnerships with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries over the past five decades. The bank has provided transformative technical assistance, capacity-building programs, and highly needed knowledge products to support the region’s development agenda. Governments in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and the UAE have benefited from the World Bank’s global expertise and development experience through cost-reimbursable advisory services. These services help GCC countries move toward a more diversified economy, supported by stronger human capital development. Tailored to each country's specific context, these advisory services include advice on strategic reforms and policies, implementation support, and capacity building.
The GCC countries are well-positioned to lead regionally and globally, using their influence to highlight development challenges faced by developing nations. The visions of the GCC countries align well with the World Bank’s roadmap for progress, especially through expanding partnerships and generating knowledge via cost-reimbursable advisory services.
