"Emirati Judo" wins bronze in the "Tashkent Grand Slam" Championship

Amr Gad, our national judo team player, won the bronze medal in the "Tashkent Grand Slam" Championship last night in his first official foreign participation, after winning the preliminary round against Uzbekistani Mavo Nerdiev, Italian Pellegra, and Kazakh Juparnazar, which secured him the top spot in his group, to face Uzbekistani champion Sobirov on his home ground and among his fans and win over him.

He qualified for the semi-finals after a difficult journey of strong fights, in which he lost and was satisfied with the bronze medal, placing the UAE team in eighth place among the participating countries' teams.


The championship was held under the supervision of the International Judo Federation with the participation of 242 male and female players from 23 countries for prizes amounting to 154 thousand euros. Dr. Nasser Al Tamimi, member of the National Olympic Committee, head of the mission, Secretary-General of the UAE Judo Federation, and Treasurer of the International Federation, participated in crowning the winners.
