English player Tyrrell Hatton wins the 36th edition of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic Golf Championship

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, crowned English player Tyrrell Hatton as the champion of the 36th edition of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic Championship, which concluded today at the Majlis Course at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, with the participation of 126 of the world’s best stars, competing for prize money amounting to 9 million dollars.

His Highness handed Hatton, who finished the competition with a score of 15 strokes under par, the famous “Dallah” Cup, in addition to receiving the prize money amounting to 1.530 million US dollars, as this is considered one of the highest tournaments in terms of prize money, as it is one of the elite tournaments of the Rolex Series within the DP World Tour and the “Race to Dubai”.

The coronation ceremony was attended by His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of the Ruler's Court of Dubai and Managing Director of Investment Corporation of Dubai, His Excellency Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation, and His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council.

Mustafa Al Hashimi, CEO of Wasl Hospitality & Leisure, Dr. Pawan Munjal, Chairman and CEO of Hero MotoCorp, Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates Global Aluminium, Abdulhamied Seddiqi, Chairman of Seddiqi Holding, Shayne Nelson, CEO of Emirates NBD, Abdullah Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, Tom Phillips, CEO of DP World Tour Middle East, and representatives of sponsoring and supporting companies were also present.

The organizers announced that the attendance broke a record, to be the highest throughout all 36 editions, since the tournament was launched in 1989, which is considered the first and oldest in the Middle East region within the DP World Tour, and one of the elite tournaments of the Rolex Series. This is the eighth title in Tyrrell Hatton’s career on the DP World Tour, and he has now equalled Spaniard Jon Rahm in the number of Rolex Series Elite titles he has won with five, including his Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship triumph in 2021.

Simon Corkill, CEO of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, congratulated Tyrrell Hatton on his outstanding performance and well-deserved win in this year’s edition of the tournament, noting that the field of competitors in the tournament is the strongest in the history of the event, which includes players who won major titles such as Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm, and the world’s eighth-ranked Viktor Hovland, in addition to rising stars such as Akshay Bhatia and Preston Somerhays, who achieved the best results for amateur players with a score of two under par.
