Regional and international competitions in the new season's calendar for athletics in Muscat

The Oman Athletics Federation will launch its local competitions calendar for the new year 2025 on the 24th of this January, by holding the Federation's preliminary championship in Muscat, while on the 31st of this January, the qualifiers for the Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates will be held, and the qualifiers will be held in the Dhofar Governorate, while on the 7th of next February, the qualifiers for the rest of the governorates will be held in Muscat, and on the 14th of February, the first round of the Federation League will be held in Muscat, followed by the Athletes' Preparation Centers Championship in Muscat on the 20th of February, while the final of the governorates championship will be held on the 21st and 22nd of February in Muscat.

On March 14, the second round of the Union League will be held, while the third round of the league will be held on March 21. Both rounds will be held in Muscat. Next April will be filled with 3 competitions, starting with the Girls Clubs Championship on April 11, then the fourth round of the Union League on April 18, followed by the fifth and final round of the Union League on the 25th of the same month. The competitions will be held in Muscat Governorate, and the competitions will stop until next August, which will host the Open Athletics Championship in Dhofar Governorate, while the curtain will fall on the local competitions for the current year on Sunday, October 19, with the holding of a half marathon race

External participations

The national teams will have a large share of external participations this year, and the Oman Athletics Federation will launch its external participations with the Arab Cross Country Championship for men and women on February 15 in Jordan. In March, it will begin its participation in the World Indoor Athletics Championships for men and women, which will be held from April 21 to 23 in Nanjing, China, followed by participation in the 20th Asian Marathon Championship for men and women, which will also be held in China on March 30.

Next April will be filled with many external participations, starting with participation in the Gulf Beach Games for men and women, which will be hosted by Muscat during the period from April 5 to 11, then participation in the West Asian Clubs Championship, which will be held in Qatar during the period from April 9 to 12, followed by participation in the first West Asian Games for juniors and junior women, which will be held in Iraq during the period from April 21 to 30, then participation in the West Asian Youth Championship under 18 years, which will be held in Saudi Arabia during the period from April 22 to 26.

As for next May, it will also be crowded with Arab and international participations, starting with participation in the Gulf Athletics Championship for Youth Under 19, which will be held in Qatar during the period from May 4 to 5, then participation in the West Asian One-Day Meeting for Men and Women, which will also be held in Qatar on May 9, while the World Relay Championship for Men and Women will be held in Guangzhou, China, on May 10 and 11, followed by participation in the Arab Championship in Algeria for Men and Women on May 18 and 19, then participation in the 26th Asian Athletics Championship for Men and Women, which will be held in South Korea during the period from May 27 to 31.

While next June there will be one participation, which is in the West Asian Youth Championship, which will be held in Qatar during the period from June 19 to 22, and until now the host country for the championship has not been determined, and external participation will stop in July and August, and the teams will return to external championships in September, which will be full of participation.

Starting with the Arab Junior Championships for both boys and girls, which will be held in Tunisia on September 6 and 7, then participating in the World Athletics Championships - Road Race - for men and women, which will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from September 13 to 21, followed by participation in the Third Asian Youth Games, which will be held in Bahrain from September 10 to 25, then participating in the World Championships - Road Race - for men and women, which will be held in San Diego, USA, from September 26 to 28, and the external participation calendar for the current season will conclude with participation in the West Asian Cross Country Championship for men and women on November 28, noting that the national team for men and women will also participate in the Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be held in Saudi Arabia, but the date of the tournament's competitions has not yet been determined.

Regarding the calendar of local competitions and external participations, Ali bin Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Athletics Federation, Chairman of the Competitions Committee, and Vice Chairman of the National Teams Committee at the Federation, said: Last season, the Competitions Committee at the Oman Athletics Federation held many diverse competitions and tried to attract most of the clubs affiliated with the Federation as well as various military entities in order to participate in last year's calendar, and thank God we witnessed expanded local competitions and championships.

He added: The current year 2025 calendar is full of many competitions and championships, and is divided into 4 types: competitions for the governorates, the Federation League, as well as supervising the governorates marathon, and also supervising the championships organized by government and private entities, schools, and others. In the next stage, we will work to expand the participation of clubs in these competitions. We have communicated with all affiliated clubs and sent the competition calendar as well as the regulations and conditions for these competitions. All clubs have been urged to participate and register in the Federation’s competitions of various types.
