His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Discusses Cooperation with the French National Library

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, met on Thursday morning with Gilles Picot, President of the French National Library, and his accompanying delegation, at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi House.

During the meeting, which was attended by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Book Authority, His Highness welcomed the French library delegation to the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi House, explaining to the delegation what the House means and what it contains of books, collectibles and manuscripts.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah toured the halls of the House with the French National Library delegation, viewing the various books that the library contains in its Arabic and English sections, in addition to the medals, honorary certificates and souvenirs that His Highness has received, as well as his photos with world leaders, and the most prominent awards that His Highness has received in appreciation of his great role in various fields.

The delegation also viewed the collections of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, which are housed in the House, and which take the visitor on a historical tour through maps, documents, manuscripts, photos, visual materials and recordings. These collections contribute to providing documented historical sources and facts, through original pieces, documents and drawings that illustrate historical events and incidents witnessed by the region.

After the tour, the meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation relations between Sharjah and the French National Library, in a way that serves cultural and literary affairs. His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the President of the French Library exchanged gifts and publications.

The French delegation expressed their sincere thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi for receiving them, expressing their happiness and amazement at the valuable collections and great historical manuscripts contained in the House, wishing His Highness continued success.

The meeting was attended by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of the Protocol and Hospitality Department, and Ali Ibrahim Al Marri, Head of the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi House.
