Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Organizes Library Science Conference

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library, in cooperation with Al Wasl University, is organizing the first international conference on library and information science, under the title "Library and Information Sciences in the Academic Map: Between the Challenges of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science", under the slogan "The Future of Knowledge Workers" on January 29 and 30.

The conference will witness the participation of a group of experts, academics and those interested in the field of library and information sciences to exchange ideas, discuss innovative solutions to meet the challenges of digital transformation, and enhance the efficiency of workers in this vital field.


Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazrouei, Member of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, confirmed that the Foundation seeks to be a place for formulating and sustaining the future of the public libraries sector and developing it, through joint cooperation in organizing and hosting local, regional and international conferences, which contribute to coming up with recommendations aimed at keeping pace with the transformations witnessed by the libraries and information sector, in light of the rapid technical development of artificial intelligence technologies.


He explained that the First International Conference on Library and Information Sciences is an extension of this vision and thought, and is an exceptional platform that brings together experts, researchers and decision-makers with the aim of formulating practical recommendations and proposals that draw a future map for the library and information sector. It also seeks to develop a flexible and renewable vision that supports all initiatives that enhance the role and status of knowledge in our societies, and help confront the challenges imposed by artificial intelligence technologies on this pioneering sector.

Sessions

The conference includes 5 scientific sessions on artificial intelligence applications in libraries, in addition to a session that presents the reality of libraries in the UAE, with the participation of representatives from prominent library institutions in the country.


The conference aims to enhance the use of artificial intelligence and data science in libraries and information, and explore strategies for their integration into academic and professional institutions.


The conference focuses on anticipating the future in education and applications of library and information sciences, and addresses four main axes: the role of artificial intelligence and data science, applications of technologies in academic programs, their use in library institutions, and the professional effects of enhancing the role of artificial intelligence.
