His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sandooq Al Watan, opened the coronation ceremony for the winners of the first edition of the “Our Heritage in Words” competition

His Excellency stressed during the celebration organized by Sandooq Al Watan at the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities in Abu Dhabi, that celebrating the achievements of the National Identity Clubs in schools, colleges and universities and the winners of the “Our Heritage in Words” creative writing competition organized by these clubs as part of their role in deepening pride in national identity and making it an important area for creativity, innovation and initiative, represents a living embodiment of the call of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, which was represented in His Highness’s saying: “We want the world to see our pride in our authentic identity, and for the values ​​​​established in our society to be a continuing title for us.”


His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan crowned the winners of the first edition of the “Our Heritage in Words” competition from university students in the poetry and short story branches, and from school students in the short story field.

Gold, silver and bronze shields were awarded to the winners, as follows:


First place in the literary competition for school students was won by Jana Al Akash, from Abu Dhabi International Private School.

Second place was won by Sheikha Al Shamsi, from Tahnoon Bin Mohammed Educational Complex, Applied Technology Schools.

Third place was won by Nouf Al Balushi, from Tahnoon Bin Mohammed Educational Complex.

From university students, first place in the short story branch was won by Maha Abdul Rahman, from Zayed University.

Second place was won by Sheikha Al Nuaimi, from the Colleges of Technology in Al Ain.

Third place was won by Jamila Al Darei, from Mohammed Bin Zayed University.

First place in the poetry branch was won by Andy Fat Jing, from Mohammed Bin Zayed University.

Second place was won by Mona Al Bashir Ahmed, from Mohammed Bin Zayed University.

Aisha Al Riyami, from the Colleges of Technology in Al Ain, won third place.

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan praised the efforts of all schools, colleges and universities that work with the National Fund and contribute seriously to the success of the national identity clubs in them, expressing his pride in the efficiency and initiative shown by the students of these schools and universities, especially the winners of this competition, thanking them for their clear achievements that are evident in their displayed works.

His Excellency stressed that the National Identity Clubs are part of the “National Identity Pioneers” program organized by the National Fund in all regions of the country, with the aim of enabling individuals and groups of society who wish to be a positive force that contributes to affirming pride in the values ​​and principles that form the identity of the sons and daughters of the Emirates, among the youth and young people, among families, in all institutions and local communities, and throughout the country, stressing that the National Fund believes that this program and the related National Identity Clubs are an expression of our confidence in the country and our pride in its immortal past, its happy present and the bright future that awaits it, thanks to the efforts of its sons and daughters.

He added that “National Identity Pioneers” aims to enable the National Fund to play its role in developing everyone’s capabilities to be voices, pioneers and volunteers in the fields of promoting national identity, among citizens on the one hand, and among residents as well, by raising their awareness of the elements of that identity, and affirming their good feelings towards the UAE on the other hand, stressing the Fund’s keenness to work with everyone, in a way that motivates all participants in the program and in the National Identity Clubs, to be good citizens and distinguished pioneers keen to achieve the elements of efficiency and effectiveness, in all their work and achievements.

His Excellency congratulated the winners, wishing them continued success and victory in the future, stressing that there is great hope in them, and that confidence in their role as role models for their colleagues is limitless, calling on them to be proud of life in the UAE, and to participate seriously in achieving its pioneering role at the global level.

For her part, Her Excellency Sarah Awad Issa Musallam explained that the UAE is currently witnessing a comprehensive renaissance in the field of education, and improving its quality in its various fields, and across all educational stages, under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, who is keen to ensure that Emirati students receive the highest possible quality of education, so that they can face challenges and build the future.

She expressed her happiness to participate in honoring the talented sons and daughters of the Emirates from school and university students who won the “Our Heritage in Words” competition, appreciating the efforts of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, in sponsoring the sons and daughters of the Emirates, and making every possible effort to empower them and activate their capabilities.


Her Excellency Sarah Awad Issa Musallam, Minister of State for Early Childhood Education, Chairperson of the Federal Early Childhood Education Authority, Chairperson of the Department of Education and Knowledge – Abu Dhabi, a number of presidents and directors of Emirati and international universities, directors of public and private schools, members of the Board of Directors of Sandooq Al Watan, in addition to supervisors and members of national identity clubs in schools and universities, His Excellency Dr. Khalifa Al Dhaheri, Director of the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities, His Excellency Dr. Khalid Al Hammadi, Executive Director of the Higher Colleges of Technology in Sharjah, and His Excellency Yasser Al Gergawi, Director General of Sandooq Al Watan.
